Word Notebook is a vocabulary notebook app for Android and iPhone. You save the words you come across with their meanings and, if you like, an example sentence, then review them in Flashcards, Quiz and Write modes. It also includes ready-made A1–C2 word lists for English, German, French and Spanish. In Turkish the app is called Dil Defteri.

Anyone who wants to note down new words and keep reviewing them: students, people learning a language for work or a move abroad, and anyone who picks up words from shows and books. You need to be at least 13 to use it.

You can keep your own notebook in 22 languages, with a separate notebook for each. The ready-made courses cover English, German, French and Spanish.

Yes. The app is available in English, Turkish, German, Spanish, French and Russian.

Word Notebook is a vocabulary notebook, not an exam course. You can save the words you meet in practice tests and readings and review them three ways; the ones you get wrong collect in My mistakes. We don't promise exam results.

No. You decide what to practise and when; words you got wrong or skipped wait for you in My mistakes.

Yes, it's free to start. The free version lets you add up to 2 notebooks and 200 words in total, and shows ads.

No. Everything you've added stays open and you can keep practising. You only need Pro to add new notebooks or new words.

The free version has no banners. A full-screen ad appears when you finish a practice session or close the add-word sheet after adding 5 or more words, and on iPhone sometimes when you open the app. There are never ads while you type words or practise. Pro has no ads.

Pro is a one-time payment, not a subscription. It's $9.99 in the US and €9.99 in the euro area; in other countries the store shows your local price. Pro gives you unlimited notebooks and words, with no ads.

Sign in with the same store account (Google Play or Apple ID) and the same Word Notebook account, then tap Restore purchases.

Google Play or the App Store takes the payment, so refunds follow that store's refund rules.

Your words are saved to your account, so they come back when you change phones or sign in on another one. Sign in with email or Google, and with Apple on iPhone.

Yes. If you'll use both, sign in with email or Google; Sign in with Apple is only available on iPhone.

No. They're saved to your account. Just sign in with the same account on your new phone.

You need an internet connection to sign in and save your words to your account. We recommend using Word Notebook while you're online.

Word Notebook 2.0 is rebuilt from the ground up: several meanings and an example sentence per word, three practice modes (Flashcards, Quiz, Write), My mistakes, and course units that never lock again once passed. If anything goes wrong with the update, email destek@dildefteri.com.

1,535 in total: English 662 words (49 units), German 341 (30 units), French 286 (28 units), Spanish 246 (24 units). Each course has 6 levels from A1 to C2, and every word has an example sentence. The course word lists were compiled by an English teacher from major, widely used reference sources.

C1 and C2 are selected words, about 10 per unit. You grow your notebook with your own words too.

Pass the unit test with 70% and the next unit opens. A unit you've passed never locks again, whatever your later attempts score.

Yes. Add every word in a unit with Add all to my notebook, or the ones you missed in its test with Add mistakes to my notebook, in one tap.

The course in your own language is hidden. If English is your language, you'll see the German, French and Spanish courses. Course translations are available in English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish and Russian. If your language is a different one (Portuguese or Hindi, for example), the courses show Coming soon; your own notebook still works in all 22 languages.

No. The courses are ready-made word lists grouped into levels and units.

Three: Flashcards (see the word, reveal the answer, mark whether you knew it), Quiz (pick the right meaning from four options) and Write (type the meaning or the word yourself). Practise word → meaning, meaning → word, or mixed.

Small typos are recognised.

A list of the words you got wrong or skipped. Practise just those whenever you like.

Yes. After every session you can review each answer and see your past sessions.

Yes. You can listen to words and example sentences with your phone's voice. No sound? See Support.

Yes, a daily reminder. There's a dark theme too.

No, we don't sell your data. Details are in the privacy policy.

In the app, tap Delete account at the bottom of the Profile tab. If you can't access the app, see the account deletion page.
